24/07/2021

Open from midday on July the 24th, the Keilcafe (Vierhavenstraat 46, 3029 BG Rotterdam) will be hosting a Squish event: zine workshop & queer local DJs.

Line up: DJ Leroy (16h-18h)
DJ ZEZ (18h-20h)
Yung Liberaci (20h-22h)

The Keilecafe is an outdoor bar and hodgepodge of mish-mashed tree houses, bleachers, and renovated caravans. They have a menu of pizzas fresh to order and a bar. Squish will be lining up a special selection of queer Rotterdam local DJs playing for the whole day, and there will also be a zine workshop running from 14:00 - 21:00.

Zines are a form of indie publication and a way that everyone can make a statement. The zine workshop will work on a sit-up sit down basis, but there will be a waiting list on the day if there are queues. We will also have the capacity to host groups for the workshops. We will teach you a little about the history of zines, help you come up with an idea for your zine and provide you with the materials to create your own mini publication there on the day.

The capacity for Keilcafe is 80 people, and there is a possibility of cancellation on the day if the weather is poor, we will announce this on our social media channels.

Squish is a queer and feminist organisation, we aim to create safe spaces within our events for marginalised people. We have a no-tolerance policy for discrimination and such behaviour won’t be tolerated at the event.

DJ ZEZ is the moniker of Zinzi, a Rotterdam based queer DJ, who’s inspired by deconstructed club, acid, house, synthwave, italo and electro. She loves the sound of “plastic beats”, 80s games and thunder.

DJ Leroy is always looking for unexpected turns and heated encounters of genres. From ‘linksvoor’ material, lo fi sounds and maybe to darkwave - but there is always room for poppy sounds too.
